Friday was a great gig. First off, Gary is a masterful musician, and playing with him even raised my own level of playing. It was cool, too, opening for a seasoned musician, Paul Collins, who not only played really catchy, cleverly-crafted tunes, but also was full of solid, road-tested rock advice.
Another highlight of the show was covering “God Only Knows”, during which we enlisted the help of the audience… The club is uniquely appropriate for this sort of trick, too. As you can see from the photos (taken by my buddy, David Baillot), the club is divided into two levels, with the stage set up in an open space between the two. The top picture shows the view of someone watching on the bottom level, while the bottom picture shows the view from above. Very quirky; very London.
I should mention that the lower level completely overpowered the upper level in the rousing chants of “God only knows what I’d do without you” that ensued…

A very good gig indeed… glad to have been there even though my 185cm’ height prevented me from seeing much of your heads from the bottom level
